BASWA acoustic Plaster Systems

The purpose of BASWA acoustics systems is the reduction of reverberation times. The are made of two primary elements”: the pre-coated mineral fiber panels glued to a firm, enclosed base (as a rule concrete or a lowered mineral ceiling) and the micro-porous coating masses. Acoustic solutions from BASWA acoustic AG are available in two options: single layer or double layer systems. Single layer systems (BASWA Base, BASWA Fine) offer budget priced solutions and optimum installation times for premium quality acoustic surfaces that are extremely refined – provided the overall conditions are suitable for such installations. Double layer systems (BASWA Classic Base, Classic Fine, Classic Top) always consist of a base layer called BASWA Base and a top coat (BASWA Base, Fine or Top). They are installed if the surface has to be extremely fine (BASWA Classic Top). If surfaces are bent with tight radiuses or they are located within highly visible lighted areas, they have to be covered.

BASWA phon Base

BASWA phon Classic Top

Double layer systems are used if the surface quality has to meet the highest standards. These requirements may pertain to how fine the surface structure is (BASWA Phon Classic Top – with BASWA Top 0.3 mm as the top coat), or they may be the result of other prerequisites  (vaulted or double vaulted surfaces, surfaces with strong light exposure).

Double layer systems require the placement of a first base coat BASWA Base on the glued acoustic panels, upon which a top coat (coating masses BASWA Base, Fine or Top) is subsequently applied.

  • Granule size in the top coat 0.7 mm / 0.5 mm / 0.3 mm

  • Finest surface structure (BASWA Classic Top)

  • Suitable for surfaces exposed to a lot of light or vaulted surfaces

  • Standard color ~ NCS S 0500-N

  • Comprehensive color selection (BASWA Colors, NCS, RAL, etc.)

  • Maximum surface quality <Q3>

Double layer systems are used if the surface quality has to meet the highest standards. These requirements may pertain to how fine the surface structure is, or they may be the result of other prerequisites  (vaulted or double vaulted surfaces, surfaces with strong light exposure).

Double layer systems require the placement of a first base coat BASWA Base on the glued acoustic panels, upon which a top coat (BASWA Fine ) is subsequently applied.

BASWA phon Classic Fine
BASWA Natural Classic Fine

The BASWA Natural acoustic panel consists of purely natural and sustainable components. BASWA Natural does not contain any harmful ingredients and has an excellent ecological balance. With acoustic panels made of natural fibres and an open-pored pre-coating of recycled glass granulate, BASWA Natural combines sustainability with excellent sound absorption.

The Natural panels are glued o onto a solid, closed substrate (usually walls, solid ceilings or suspended plasterboard ceilings) with BASWA Fix C or BASWA Fix K, jointed, sanded flat and finally coated seamlessly with the marble BASWA final coatings.

System profile

  • Two-layer systems

  • Grain size of the base layer BASWA Base = 0.7mm

  • Grain size of the final layer BASWA Fine = 0.5 mm

  • Medium surface structure of the final layer

  • Standard color ~ NCS S 0500-N

  • Comprehensive color selection (BASWA Colors, NCS, RAL, etc.)

  • Surface quality Standard <Q2> / maximum <Q3>

  • Fire classification: B-s1-d0 flame-retardant according to DIN EN 13501-1

THERMAL-ACOUSTIC SYSTEMS

The purpose of BASWA’s acoustics systems is the reduction of reverberation times. A special category among these solutions: BASWA thermal-acoustic systems. They combine acoustic performance (absorption) with thermal properties (controlling the temperature of a room). BASWA acoustic AG offers two different approaches to this solution: the active BASWA Cool system and the passive BASWA Core system.

BASWA Cool

BASWA Cool

The active BASWA Cool system uses an embedded capillary pipe system to provide thermal comfort. It can be installed directly in concrete ceilings or lowered systems.

Large space water transporting capillary pipe mats are installed close to the surface. While they require only a minimum amount of space and energy, they provide draft-free and noiseless room temperature control paired with outstanding sound absorption. Thanks to the small amount of acoustic rendering coverings and the surface proximate installation as well as the good heat conductivity of the mineral-based acoustic stucco, the system delivers outstanding heating and cooling effects.

Properties

  • Excellent broadband sound absorption

  • Cooling results at Δ8K; 79W / m2 (according to DIN EN 14240:2004 - 04)

  • Heating results at Δ15K; 117W / m2 (according to DIN EN 14037- 02)

  • Minimal installation height

  • Smooth, groove free surface

  • Top coat Base, Fine or Top

  • Standard color ~ NCS S 0500-N

  • Comprehensive color selection (BASWA Colors, NCS, RAL, etc.)

  • Construction material class B-s1-d0 according to DIN EN 13501-1

BASWA Core

BASWA Core

Passive system BASWA Core, which literally transfers the output of thermally activated components to the room with minimal loss also delivers acoustic absorption effects. This system is installed exclusively with activated concrete surfaces. In these applications, BASWA Core  can either be installed in the concrete ceiling of the building’s shell (inlay) or can be mounted to an existing ceiling retroactively during the interior build-out phase.

The BASWA Core System is used in combination with TACS ceilings (thermally active component systems). Its purpose is to lead the energy generated in the room to the thermally activated ceiling through the sound absorbing BASWA Core panel. In new construction projects with the TAC system, pipes (usually made of plastic) are installed above the lowest reinforced steel layer in solid concrete ceilings. Water is used as the heating or cooling medium. The solid concrete ceiling is thermally activated in the vicinity of the pipes, which serve as transfer and storage mass. To ensure that the thermal energy is transferred from the activated concrete ceiling through the sound absorbing system, a specially shaped aluminum profile with a slit is used, which is one of the core components of the BASWA Core panels.

As a user of these thermally conductive acoustic systems, you are effectively taking advantage of the storage capabilities of TACs ceiling systems for heating and cooling purposes in rooms without having to give up the advantages of pleasant room acoustics paired with joint and structure free modern architecture.
